Sepali Guruge is a Full Professor in the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing. For the past 25 years, Sepali has demonstrated a solid commitment to increasing the visibility and highlighting the resiliency of marginalized populations. Her program of research focuses on immigrant health, with particular attention to the complex intersections between health, immigration, gender, violence, and aging. Kaveenaa Chandrasekaran, Toronto Metropolitan University

Kaveenaa Chandrasekaran is a Registered Nurse with diverse experiences in various care settings, including acute care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, rehabilitation, and community health. Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Kaveenaa is committed to supporting nursing students, new graduates, and internationally trained nurses within the care setting. In 2024, Kaveenaa earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Toronto Metropolitan University. Her thesis examined the health implications of social isolation and loneliness among older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting critical issues that have emerged in contemporary healthcare. Kaveenaa has actively participated in various research projects and initiatives focused on integrating Indigenous education into the undergraduate nursing curriculum. Additionally, she has contributed to suicide prevention efforts within the Sri Lankan Tamil community, addressing critical mental health challenges and promoting awareness and support.
